Description
LONDON HAS EVER SEEN.
1 COMMUNITY + 1 WEEKEND = ONE VISON FOR KINGSTON’S FUTURE
These free events to take place in the marquee on the lawn of the historic
All Saints Church. Opposite the Bentall centre, Kingston Upon Thames.
Dates: March 20th and 21st 2010
Times: 10am – 1pm, 3pm – 6pm both days
Kingston upon Thames is host to one of the largest public art projects in the UK where over 300 Kingston residents will combine forces to make a vision for a brighter, greener Kingston 2030.
CROSSING THE GENERATION GAP
Residents between the age of 19-25 and 55 plus will come together in the ArtgymTM - a large marquee erected right in the middle of Kingston for one-weekend only. With the help of artists, sculptors and movie-makers, residents will flex their creative muscles and create a brighter, greener vision for Kingston’s future in this exciting project. Challenging perceptions around the “generation gap”, this creative bonanza aims to discover what both age groups have in common and how they come together to make a powerful vision for their future.
BRINGING PEOPLE’S IDEAS TO LIFE, THROUGH LIVING ART
People’s stories, ideas and artwork will go on to be showcased during Kingston’s Summer Arts Season, the International Youth Arts and exhibited in Kingston Museum.
SPREADING THE WORD ACROSS THE WORLD…
The whole process is being made into a documentary that will showcase to the rest of the UK, and beyond, this urban community’s response to the challenges and opportunities facing their environment.
This innovative project is being led by the multi-award winning ArtgymTM, an organisation dedicated to unleashing the creative potential of individuals, organisations and whole communities through ‘living art’.
