Description
Did Tony Blair help kill the holy Gajar fish at Shah Jalal’s shrine? Is the ‘neo-Islam’ of England the true face of Islam? Can we train our minds to create a hybrid language for the whole of humanity?
Mystical creatures emerge from underground, new narratives shift physical landscapes, man-made wars force masses to co-exist, national psyches clash…
This latest set of paintings responds to the site specific of Chaat, a Bangladeshi tea room and gallery just off Brick Lane, investigating the ongoing cross-cultural dialogue between Sylhet (north-east Bangladesh) and London with references to the London Sufi movement and Baul traditions.
Saif Osmani (St. Martin’s/ Chelsea) is a spatial designer and visual artist practicing in London.
