Description

To celebrate Charles Darwin's two hundredth anniversary in 2009, the Museum will commission a new work of art for the ceiling of a gallery (previously Plant Power) behind its Central Hall.

Ten shortlisted artists, including former Turner Prize-winners Mark Wallinger and Rachel Whiteread, have spent three months researching ideas for a permanent artwork inspired by Charles Darwin's ideas and their relevance today. Visitors are able to see the models, paintings and drawings for all 10 proposals on display in this exhibition.

Bus: 14, 49, 70, 74, 345, 360, 414 and C1 stop nearby. Some tour buses also pass nearby

There are cycle parking facilities by the Cromwell Road entrance.

Use the Cromwell Road entrance for dinosaurs, creepy-crawlies and the blue whale.

Use the Exhibition Road entrance  for volcanoes, earthquakes and our giant Earth model.

The Cromwell Road entrance has steps. The Exhibition Road entrance is step-free.

The Museum is open every day except 24-26 December. Last admission is at 17:30.
